Frequently Asked Questions

A few answers to common questions.

Where can I get a copy of A Voice for Evie?

Amazon, Google Books, and Ingram.

What was the relationship between Jim & Irv Byington and William Byington? How about Henry Pigg and Armina?

Irv was Jim’s son, and William and Irv were first cousins, once removed. Armina was a niece of Henry Pigg. I should have put a family tree diagram in on that chapter. The two families were close and yet feuding.

Is A Voice for Evie based on a true story?

Yes. Except for some of the conversational aspects, it is entirely true. Even the conversational aspects are based on real newspaper accounts.

Are you sure the notebook was key to the story?

Yes. I'm very certain. There was no fire in the family. What happened to that notebook was accidental. Why was it saved? Your guess is as good as mine, but knowing Howard, it protected a narrative. Why he didn't throw it away, I do not know.

How did Howard die?

I don't know the medical details, but he was found dead in his bed by my father, Rollin, who traveled down to Bonne Terre along with my two brothers to visit him. I remember Howard well, and though I don't remember Dad and my brothers leaving for that trip, I remember them returning that day. His body was donated to medical science.

I want to learn more about these people.

They're all on FamilySearch (highly recommended and free) William Byington can be found here and all the rest can be found from that page.

Will there be more from the author?

I have a few ideas, including a sci-fi book that I worked on with a friend long ago. I wouldn’t hold your breath, though.
